2012 Planning Committee Update

Aloha Everyone, we had a very successful 2012 planning committee meeting this month and have a few projects in the works and wanted to update you.

1. LOGO ITEM DESIGNS

Here is the Logo we will be using for the conference. We will be designing logo items such as conference pins, beach towels, golf shirts, and conference tote bags. If you are interested in working with designs, and have contacts to accomplish any of these tasks, we could use your help. Our goal is to have the pins ready for sale at the Regional Conference in Sonoma in February 2011. We also hope to distribute pre-order forms at the CA State Conference in September 2010 and other State Meetings throughout the Region. Please contact us at Swell2012

2. CALL FOR PHOTOS – CALENDAR PROJECT

The 2012 Committee will be selling a Countdown to 2012 Calendars featuring photos of our local scenery and attractions. All of you photographers out there who happened to take the “perfect shot”, we would love to use it for our calendar. Again, we will be handing out pre order forms at the other Regional Associations at their State Meetings for delivery in 2011. Please submit your photos in jpeg format to Swell2012. We will be using the best 18 photos for our calendar.

3. DON’T FORGET THE 101010 SHOW

Save the date for InsuranceFest 2010. The event this year will be called the 101010 Show and will again be held at Dave & Buster’s on – You Guessed It! 10/10/10. This will be a fun event full of entertainment for the whole family and special activities for kids are planned. It is a holiday weekend so no work on Monday. Watch for details and plan to make a day of it. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us at Swell2012.

4. CHANGE OF MEETING DAY

Beginning with our August 2012 Planning Meeting, we will be changing the day from the 4th Thursday to the 3rd Wednesday of each Month at the Plaza Club at 5:15 p.m. Parking at the PioneerPlaza is only $3:00 after 5. Please plan to join us and be a part of the fun.

We know it seems like the Conference is still a long way off but 2012 will be here before we know it. The Committee wants to thank everyone who has been so instrumental in helping with the planning of this event. We are so fortunate to have an organization so full of talent and commitment.

2012 Survey Says …

At the 2010 Regional Conference attendees where asked for their input on activities they would like to do when they come to Hawaii for the 2012 Region VIII Conference.  The results are in and …

1. Visit the Polynesian Cultural Center
2. Visit the Arizona Memorial
3. Take a drive out to the North Shore
4. Sunrise beach walks
5. Attend a Lu’au
6. Watch the Magic of Polynesia Show
7. Learn the Hula or Learn to make a floral Lei
8. Take an Inter-Island Excursion
9. Hike Diamond Head
10. Visit Shangri-La (The Doris Duke Estate)

Some other areas of interest were taking a Home Tour (Expensive Homes), Golf Outings, Scuba Diving, Water Park, Volcano Trip, and help with a beach clean up during a morning beach walk.

We thank all of the survey participants for their input, this information will be used to develop conference activities.  Mahalo.

Are you getting excited?

Welcome to the blog site for the 2012 Region VIII Conference. The last conference held in Hawaii for Region VIII was in 2000. It’s been 12 years.

We will be sharing information in the coming weeks and months about what we have planned for the Conference and Conference Committee. We will be looking for volunteers to help with fundraising and other conference responsibilities.  We hope you will join us in celebrating this occasion for HAIP to Ride that Swell, bringing our fellow NAIW members to Hawaii in 2012.
